Down Lights - Lesson Learned
Well, today I just realized that we have make a mistakes by purchasing the wrong designed down lights for our toilets, which make a hassle when changing the light bulbs. No worry, I will be upgrading soon. So below are the 2 comparison.
This (above) is the ones that we had currently, as you can see above the way the light bulbs are inserted, horizontally, well this makes it difficult to replace the light bulbs, what I can say and why it is design in this manner, our housing design are getting lower and lower in term of the ceiling heights, I guess you know what they do that?. So with the ceiling so low they have to make the light not to protruding at the top end when i normally covered with the ceiling boards. Therefore they invented this design, basically following the scale of economics, demands.
So if you can, try to get the ones below, where you can just plug in the bulbs from below. Nice and easy.
Pictures and brand names are property of its respective owners. I am here just to share and show some example.

2013 home improvement before Chinese New Year
This one century cable has made its journey to the end of its life, where the condition on the braided white insulation has been like ones jeans, like those rugged ones. So time to change.

Changing this one is a real challenge, since i did not see the inside of the iron, on how the cables are connected, apparently it has a creaming connectors to make the wire easier to be screwed into the connection, so key learning, checked before starting. :D , now my wife is safe and happy ironing.!!!

Ok for now this window pane - which have been broken so such a long time, well since it is really not so important that needs immediate attention, the importance here is to make this toilet look nice. For this installation, I found out that one of the holes are too big for the screw, so innovation takes precedence here, in order to make the locks safe and can be attached tightly on the frame, I make a new hole, just by the side and the attachment is good.
ta...da, completed.
This is what being replaced
This panels have been giving me problem with the connection, it cannot be connected properly, like loosen and the lights will go off, so if this were to happened to you, please only use this intermittent connection on non critical electrical items, e.g lights and not computers. This must be inferior since day one....time to change
Tricky - first, I repeat....first, make sure there is no current comes here!!!!. after that simple, remove this studs by the side, can you see, the rounded ones with a test pen, or anything sharp. Then attached the cables back - start by the L (live - red or brown), E (earth - green) and N (neutral - blue), color codes might be different in different country. After that put back all the panels, and do not screw all tight just yet, have some leverage for adjustments.
Ta---da, the new ones, So how much would one save$$ by DIY for this matter.
also replaced this one for the better.

2012 home improvement - Flooring
Finally we manage to wood floored our home. this time we got a good bargain, coincidentally there is a promotion going on as the week of PENFURNEX. (Penang Furniture Expo). We got this at www.floordepot.com and the workmanship is excellent and surely there are fast as they know what they are doing. Here aer some pics
first - the clearings and housekeeping all together, moving all the existing furniture to another location. this is the horrible flooring that the developer provided.
Finally, the job is done, and the cleaning and moving works start. I am very happy with the floor now.

2011 - IKEA's Table fixed up
This year with the small and tiny condos, and due to babies, we need to get rid of one of the table in the room to make space for babies to play, with the help from BIL, he bought us the IKEA table, and expected "I" need to fix it up :), it is a bit of a challenge if you cannot read the manuals and do not have the proper tools to do it. If anyone ever need to fix up table, I suggest you to get the cordless drill, about 2,400 round per minute type. This is going to be really helpful. For this it also took me 1 hour to complete, just in time to pick up my babies. ;). Have to clear everything before they comes home. Now we have a new shared table. Yippy!

2010 replacing angle valve for the faucet!!!

huh, today, a 5 minute job, became a 1 hour job!!, why? , huh, that old china made angle valve just broke its leg in the pipe hole. That makes me really use my brain juice.
After using a huge nail and try to knock the left overs out from the hole, after 20 minutes of trying, finally got it out, how?
Well above is the magic tool that all will need for a plumbing works. For me the life saver is the jackhammer (orange one) use this tool and hit it into that hole with the hammer and use the spanner to turn slowly, that will slowly turn the remaining leftover out.
Hope this helps.
