Process to upgrade the firmware of my Nikon D7000

Today finally I decided to upgrade my nikon D7000 for no apprent reason, just that it is recommended, I have no problem so far with the my D7000.

well here is the thing, it is so smart, it will not, i repeat it will not perform the upgrade if your battery is detected to be low. So, I have to charge my battery, so ...now waiting. :).

This is a simple yet a cost that you pay for having a well thought product from reputable company.

well today too, I just read that there is a Nikon club that you can join at http://nps.nikon.com.my there requirement is that you need to have 2 nikon body or 3 nikon lens purchased locally here in Malaysia ( not grey set) then you can proceed to register. For now, I still did not have the time to browse the sites yet, soon to do that. For now I still not qualified to become a member yet, since I only have 2 lens, need to get another one, any recommendation?

9.40pm, after putting my babies to bed, then finally the battery is charge and have the time to mingle with it.

it takes 3+ minutes to perform the upgrade and the basic instructions below

Basic Upgrade instructions: for detailed instructions, see pdf files below.

1. Download the application below, and either click Save to save the executable file to your computer or Run to autoexpand the file into the D7000Update folder, which contains the D7000_0102.bin file.
2. Format an approved SD card in the camera
3. Use an SD card reader and copy the D7000_0102.bin file to the top level of the card and outside of the DCIM folder.
4. Insert the SD memory card containing D7000_0102.bin into the camera's memory card slot 1, and switch on the camera.
5. Select Firmware version from the setup menu and follow instructions displayed to upgrade the camera’s firmware.
6. DO NOT turn off the camera until the instructions indicate it is safe to do so. After the firmware is completed, switch off the camera and remove the SD memory card.
7. Switch on the camera, and access the Firmware version item in the setup menu to confirm that the camera's firmware has been upgraded. After confirming the firmware has been upgraded, switch camera off, WAIT 5 SECONDS before doing anything. re-insert SD memory card.
8. Format memory card in camera for use.

For now my D7000 firmware is

It is understandably that the competition is very very fierce on the market, maker like Olympus and Panasonic are in the arena providing similar format cameras. Soon they too will announce the end of the product line. Mainly due to its propriety expensive accessories that comes alone with it. Unlike Canon and Nikon which has a very strong third party support like Tamron and Sigma not to mentioned pro segment Tokina. These are the fundamentals that we need to look in order to purchase a product that can be used and be supported for a long time. In term of price and service. This advise goes for everything else you are planing to purchase in future

2011 interest rates going to increase again

last I heard that interest rates in Malaysia is going to be increase again. This is the reason phenomenon that the Ringgit vs USD performance. A lot of fund managers are currently coming to Malaysia due to the BNM is going to increase the interest rate to off set the current inflation at 3-3.5% last reported.

2011 Lois Boots for rain protection

Apparently it was raining almost quite everyday here, so decided to get a shoe that can provide protection to water. One day we went to Queensbay Mall and saw this boots and tried it on. After a while, I decided on this model as I fits me pretty well. Low heel and close cut, leather (according to salesman) I do not think so. Some parts maybe. Overall very comfortable. So decided to own it. Fist ever.

2011 april Housing survey in S. Jaya

2011 April a friend is planning to buy a house here is seberang jaya, Penang and we went to there to do a survey. house price from 350-400k terrace double story.
Road Infrastructure: 5/10
Environment: 5/10 Power cables

Near to Carrefour, hospital, and highway.

5 years house there selling for rm350.00. So the appreciation there is not that substantial.

this is my first trip to the mainland for food after 30 years living in the Island. Not yo boast, in the Island is more famous for seafood no need to explain much it is an island. This is the place if you want to have some different environment or experience.

Food wise, for me is about 8/10
choices : 9/10
drinks: 9/10
time: day time only.
road condition: 3/10
car park: 8/10
air cond: no no...gonna sweat here.

how to get there? simple, detect the old Quaker Oats factory. use the road beside it, drive straight and you will see signboard. like above.

Criteria for investing in a property in Penang

This is what I would make of if I were to invest in Penang. Say budget of RM300-400k. either you choose

1. Size or location
- for the budget you can get
a . a landed of 22x77' in Prai/Butterworth
b. a suite of 570 sq/f in prime location
c. a 1100 sq/f highly dense apartment/condo in the island.

There are all the options today as I write.

2011 E&O Queyside resort Penang

Today call up E&O to inquire about the cost of owning one of the resort. Well well well...how much do you guess? 300k? 400k? ...well from 790k apparently. So here is the package, free SAP, free legal (so that the they are always in the legal side). One thing....no free stamp duty. So please calculate the price including the stamp duty, if not mistaken it is about RM40k. And for this type it is the single room with 11xx sq feet. Happy living in Penang!.

2011 Martell - COrdon Bleu

I am not an expert in Liquor and I hope this one (blue label) do not disappoint my taste buds. I have tested various but non to my liking, such as Jack Daniels, XO, which is the basic entry type. I hope with the upgrade it will be much better now. cross my fingers, cos i paid a dear sum for it.

2011 USB Cables

With the cable below, now this china made reader seems to be working now..!!

this is the new reader I thought that will work with the new cable, but fail.



Ok here is the thing, first bought a cable from some computer shop for 1.5 meter, tested using it for the USB card reader, fail to response, but works fine for thumb drive. Later went and bought this 3 meter ones from Digital Bay, QueensBay Mall Penang for rm15.00 same price with the 1.5 meters cables earlier. Now, I tested it out, using the China Made USB card reader...alakazaam..it works. Apparently, suspect, one of my USB ports is a lilttle funny, so I switch it to another one that cause it to work. Here is the thing, a locally made 1.5 meters fail to work buy a proper factory made cables is ok. So guys, try to get a better quality cables to save you a lot of time and $$.

Yes, finally got it, after searching for some time, I finally found this strap for my guitar, by searching through left and right ups and downs...huh...finally. Well where?, that is the question, well, at Gurney Plaza, never thought that there is a huge music instruments shop there selling various kind of music stuff ranging from trumpets to drums, even kids drum :), my wife is planning to get to my twins, well, back here, the brands ranging from Yamaha to Fenders plus some china brands which I do not recommend. :), well if you are on a tight budget, that is the way to go, else spend your hard earn $$ on something more substantial and quality which can last you a life time, even as a heritage to your kids, who knows!. Well as said so, found this nice guitar straps on this year 2011 it cost me Rm85.00. So to all musicians, pro or amateur here is the place to go in Penang, Gurney Plaza, if you do not know ask around, most till know that place. Happy music strumming and relax.

After a long week of babies events and chores, we decided to go to somewhere peaceful and not so crowded place for lunch. Actually wife planning to go for Chalie Brown, unfortunately, the opening was delayed. As circulated in the web, it should be starting on April. Well, blessing in disguise we went to AGUA - Mediterranean Food. To our surprise the food was delicious. Start with the Medallion's Pork (sorry muslim friends) tender cook with fruit sauce, very aromatic and nice portion. 5 thumbs up. For the Angus Ribeye medium rare, succulent and juicy when you chew, nice and tender, well cooked, comes with potatoes ( like KFC wedges) nice, and some salad with Italian sauce. 5 thumbs up too. go go go visit
