Bags for the non-plastic bag state, Penang

Nowadays, life have change when we go for shopping, there is no more plastic bags being distributed due to environmental issue that we are facing. So I guess we all need to have a bag when we go out to shop. This is what I get for myself, it is on sale, so quickly, I grab it. Never the less, it is very useful. I think everyone should have some bags when shopping in Penang. Albeit, some branded shop will give out paper bags as advertisement for their brand. :) Here is the picture of the bag that I have.

Well this is all for Christmas for 2011, with presents and lots of fun stuff passed. Later I will post all of our presents which none of it is liked by my girl!, well i guess they are too young to appreciate yet!. well this could be their present for the future.

Nikon D7000 Firmware upgrade done

Completed upgraded my D7000 firmware with no problem, this picture was taken with IPAD2.

the process is simple.

1. format the sd card
2 copy the firmware into the SD card.
3. insert into the camera.
4. goto menu -firmware and select upgrade. OK.

IPAD - VNC with pocket cloud APP

after weeks of searching the way to make vnc to my windows desktop computer, i finally manage to get it done, thanks to pocketcloud app from WYSE, this free app really in stunning. I will share more picture about how to get it done. stay tune, if you guys find any other ways for getting this done, please share to me, preferably with free app.


some prerequisite:
1. download the pocketcloud app into your ipad/iphone.
2.download the pocketcloud windows companion here into your windows computer and install it using the default settings.

2011 all souls day

on 3 days ago and yesterday my girl have a bad knocked on the head, luckily she is not hurt seriously. the first time was, climbing over her mom and slip down from out bed to the floor, yesterday she stand up and fall backwards onto the 1.5.cm thick carpet. Oct 3 2011 boy knock his head in the standing rack, no blister but swollen a bit at MIL house.

2011 Jelly Moon cake review

Happy Mid Autumn to you all, although it is already pass, I guess as I am not much of the follower and I only like to eat those moon cakes, especially the nice ones, and now there is all types of moon cakes recipes, from jelly to cheese. IPAD 2.0

well well, trying to figure out how to transfer my files or pdf over to ipad....it is a click and it is really amazing design.

Here it all happened.

If you use any pdf app, look for the wifi symbol. click on it, in my case the fileapp (free). and enable the sharing and follow the instruction.

on you windows computer, just use explorer and key in the ftp ip address and your a in.

what is nice way to get into ipad.

Format command - formatting HDD with for FAT32

Recently got a new HDD from a friend, and wanted to format it as FAT32...no no cannot...do some reading and found some requirement.

1. need to repartition your HDD at 31000MB (31G) per partition.

2. when you click next you will see and option listed "FAT32" nice!

3. click on quick format, (super computer can ignore this!!) else better be quick.

4. assign a lable

5. done

in DOS: use format : /FS:FAT32

2011 - IKEA's Table fixed up

This year with the small and tiny condos, and due to babies, we need to get rid of one of the table in the room to make space for babies to play, with the help from BIL, he bought us the IKEA table, and expected "I" need to fix it up :), it is a bit of a challenge if you cannot read the manuals and do not have the proper tools to do it. If anyone ever need to fix up table, I suggest you to get the cordless drill, about 2,400 round per minute type. This is going to be really helpful. For this it also took me 1 hour to complete, just in time to pick up my babies. ;). Have to clear everything before they comes home. Now we have a new shared table. Yippy!

2011 Lim Chong Eu expressway widening project - questionable

By looking at the plan that they publish out in the newspaper star 20 Aug 2011, it is really a poor design that will not solved anything efficiently, let talk about the pros and cons.

Pros:
1. we have one more lane to use.

Cons:
1. RM2 million spend
2. drivers cannot see the clear road view after the bridge, thus traffic will be slow.
3. drivers might knock down the bridge, this poses danger to other road user.
4. Heavy container trailers will knock down the bridge, who know how big those trailers one day might be?
5. prone to accidents at that location.
6. Lame engineering, is this the best our engineers can do?
7. future expansion will even cost more, adding inflation from today 2011.


I would advise CM to remove the bridge entirely, since the usage there is very low and I do not see why the people want to cross that bridge.

With the RM2 mil spend, better to do it right from the start.

2011 IPAD 2 finally we buy

hah!, wonderful, after wondering for what brand to buy, ultimately after testing some other brands. IPAD 2 is the winner. as noted before on the specs to look for when buying electronics devices....BATTERY life. here for more tips. Ipad has been the winner in July HWM magazine test, as also another crap they put in the review for blackberry tab, winner for portability (light weight) versus the amount of battery life...some funny explanation...anyway...battery life is battery life.

2011 air cond at 24 deg C ??

Today the government just announce that all government agencies, except hospital will have to turn all the air conditioned unit not more then 24 deg C. and will extend to private sector by 2013 and i believe to every individual soon. This is how a good government works? This is merely a lazy fact to put all the blame on the people again. This is the path where we are moving backward to leaving in jungle where there is a lot of trees to provide you with free air conditioning.


I agree with the good intention but I do not agree to this method. Some question, is the government running out of money to maintain the country? It seems that the country is heading for bankruptcy is starting to appear.

What a statement, as all know that temperature is different at different location and the quality of the air cond unit also contribute to the difference in temperature. So how will the government standardized this? another money spending project on the way?

to achieve the said 24 deg C consistently the air cond unit will have to be maintained every month or 2. means that the service per unit cost about RM150.00 per unit and if there is 100 unit in say a university? 100 x RM150=RM15,000 per month and RM180,000 annually per university, how many university in Malaysia? That is just for air cond service. I guess I better start up a air cond company soon. :)

Instead the government should look at the problem at ground level, such as using better technology, such as solar, and air cond unit with inverter if it is on for more that 4 hours in a day or try to build a green building where more light can enter and wind circulation can be achieve in the interior.

So, well have to wait and see if there is another money spending project kick off soon.

2011 5 days of war a.k.a City on fire

Hi all out there again, there is a new movie releasing is cinema soon, which have 2 name to it, 5 days of war or City on Fire, they are the same directed by Renny Harlin. This is a not bad movie which show a country being conquer by Russia using a hired army or mercenaries. Cociendentally there are a few US reporter in the country and manage to film some atrocities that is happening. Using that film they manage to get help from other country to save Georgia. From rating of 10 i would say 4/10. Hope you guy enjoy.

2011 prayers for babies at Sin ong Temple

Today is the diety's birthday at Sin Ong temple at Jalan CY Choy Penang. The deity is believe to protect babies and infant. It was a real experience, the place is crowded with worshipers and the smoke from the burning joss sticks really a therapeutically method to those who have dry eyes!!. This place will really make your tears drops. The items that we need to bring such as flowers and powder, after the prayers we can take make the items for use. So hopefully our babies will have lots of divine protection. :) I will update the photos of the temple later.

BlackBerry maker to cut 2,000 jobs

According to the report it is only 10% of what? last month Nokia cuts 8000 jobs as well, so who is next.

To what I can see recently is the announcement of moving some jobs to Flextronics here in Penang, Malaysia was also part of the reason of the job cut. Basically from one pocket to another with a lower cost for RIM, but not sure if the quality is impacted, so good luck for those out there who is using or aiming to buy RIM tablets. For sure the next release of the RIM tablets named "Playbook" sounds corny ain't it?

RIM have started off at the wrong foot, there focus on business users and those business users, so therefore the users mindset if of course business when you talk about "blackberry". Now only they try to change the image of the company using the word "Play", sorry too late buddy.

With now so many major players here, especially maker from China/Taiwan, HTC, Asus,Huawei will split the market share furthermore.

Impressively, Ipad is still the major tablets that people sort, as always be with APPLE products, cos they build with style and user friendly in mind

To all readers out there, I just received this calls from this number +395220894 which is a voice recorded message that says you have a balance payment of Rm6000 in Ambank and please kindly revert this payment, then press 0 to speak to the agent. But I actually did not do anything and just close the phone. Next I called Ambank which I do not have any account there, just to check, this nice lady "Amy" told me there is a fraud call going around and investigation is on going. So guys please be careful and do not entertained these calls.

How to choose a smartphone

It has been a tremendous battle place for Smartphones, brand like Apple,HTC,Blackberry,Samsung Galaxy and other makes that is trying to get into this market. So lets talk about the review for Smart Phones as major topic. So what is the thing that you would like to have when you want to buy a smartphones? is it like its design, colors, size, and mostly price. ....is it? Well there is a lot of choices in determined the smartphones that you want to buy, everybody have different needs and budgets. so lets list down some of the items that one would normally be looking for when choosing a smartphones.

for me I it would be

1. Reception!!
- you might ask why i say that?, well what is the whole point of a phone in general, to connect! and without connection what is it call? a Toy!...:D, see this component that is used to make this reception is vital, with a good quality chip would really make a nice day for you where everyone else having trouble connecting. Nowadays, everything is online, GPS, GOOGLE,news,stocks, word processor, spreadsheets, you name it, they have it online. Even to upgrade your phone OS you would need to be connected for your convenience. My personal experience, I am using laptop and we were on a public wi-fi, my sis is using smartphone, she can get connection, well i fail to even connect. there you go, see?

2. Battery
- power power power!, don't everyone agree with me? no power that smartphone is a piece of junk or monument for shelf to be displayed :).

3. Size
- I mean screen size, not too big not to small, just nice would be ok. For me it is about 10 to 11 inch max.

4. Weight
- let say here, about like 100-120 gram

5. Display
- 16 million colors would be sufficient more then that your eyes could not even differentiate the difference, so what is the point, also need to know that the LED,LCD is a power saving type, like AMOLED, or TFT, just make sure that this type of display is a power saving type would be ok.

6. OS
- this is also crucial, I am not particular in any OS brand, but the major ones are APPLE iOS and Android OS, as I am writing they are rolling gingerbread. why this matter?, OS design is very particular, for this you have to use that phone, try it, launch some word processor and see if the virtual keyboard is blocking how much of the document body. It would be a fuss when you cannot see what you are typing, right? I also had this experience with some of the TABs that I have surveyed around, while I am planning to get one. Well this also depends on people, as some of you are left handed, so try it first to see what is ergo to you.

7. Storage
- make sure you have sufficient storage and the speed of it. slow writes make a slow phone. I note that Iphone do not have external USB to connect external drives, well if you want to get that model, do get a higher storage model. Not sure if Apple is coming out with a cable that connect with an external drive, but what is the point? All need to use itunes. hmm. I have seen some companies are making readers that can connect to iphone and store data. If you need hugh storage, look for alternatives like those models that uses Andriod mostly have a USB port.

8. GPS - free?
- if your OS can support free GPS apps? would be nice.

9. Wifi
- to get connected of course.

10. 3G/4G/5G

11. processor
- dual core 1Ghz would be good.

Apple Iphone

There is mix review that there is a lot of hype about the release of iphone 5 this coming September 2011, and i also have heard that it is not entirely new model in design, it will look similar to the iphone4 with enhanced specification, notably the "dua-core" that people are looking for and the release of OS5, wish for wish, we hope that Apple Inc. can fix the problem like the camera flash leak, the signal kaput and hopefully that GPS can function properly.

Now it is the glamorous Samsung Galaxy S II that is making all the headlines and giving options to customer to switch since the new iphone arrive later in this heated smartphone arena. I have seen the SG2, look and feel pretty impressive, weighs very light and slim, good job samsung, but still the drawback with the GPS. Most users who wants to buy SG2 can wait for iphone to come and the price will drop tremendously, well that is the game. We just hope the Apple will not come the the price war as mention in en-gadgets magazines. then it will be doom for all smartphone makers.

2011 - special present from wife

Out of no where, suddenly, my wife just said to me " Hey, I have something interesting for you". after pondering what it could be...ta..da....its M&M figuring type dispenser. It is pretty interesting, his hat can be opened to fill the tummy with m&m chocolate, and when you press down the left hand it will dispense m&m through the side hole...not sure what is that "hole" represent...anyone??

The day we want to let the government know that we are not just any people that can be force into the accepting what they want. Prices are rising and this impacted everyone and the government is not helping the people. The government still did not understand and see that now we are not alone, we a part of a global society that the only way we can dictate our future is by making this country Great!. A lot of reforms well have to be made like education, fair election, fair police force, fair MACC and fair justice to all.

2011 Transformers: Dark of the Moon

YOU CAN LOSE YOUR FAITH IN US, BUT NEVER ON YOURSELF, ....FROM HERE YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!

manage to watch this movie on the day itself....7.1.2011 with my lovely wife. I not sure if she is enjoying as I did not asked, I think the main thing is that she accompany me..nice!, as she always will do.
so here is about the movie, i would give 8/10. really impressive. all of you go out there and watch before you only can watch it at your pathetic 32" or 42" LCD with no surround sound. :)

2011 Tesco Tg Tokong Penang

Sorry guys, with the quality of these photos as it was taken with my lucky olympus point and shoot camera miu-800 which i bought since 2006. Long time never user this camera until i forget all the settings. :)

well, lets review about Tesco Tg Tokong Penang. The car park is huge with special allocated lot for family with babies and disable person to get down the car easily. You need to be careful tho as the driving lanes are not really what you thought it should be, well this is my first time. One will get use later, but this is for new comer into the mall.

inside, it is really huge with a lots of restaurants that server from Japanese to locals, some include Sakea Sushi, McD, KFC, Mizi Delicatessen (New World Park), nasi kandar. You can also do some shopping apart of Tesco brand at the shop located outside of the grocery area.

around that area, you also can visit Island Plaza, Straits Quay, Prima Tanjung or do down a bit to Gurney Drive.

Finally - kudos, it was nicely build with huge car parks space. with this huge car park they need to install car park free space detection system similar to Gurney Plaza. This help to reduce customers spending time to find free space and do shopping faster at Tesco.
